Pelle's New Suit

An Elsa Beskow classic, Pelle's New Suit is the story of a little boy whose suit grows shorter, while his lamb's coat grows longer. In order to make a new suit Pelle must shear the lamb then barter with his family and neighbours to get the wool carded, spun, dyed and woven.

While Pelle may not have the skills to complete each step towards his new suit, he's motivated to offer the work he can do in exchange. It's a delightful story that details the steps of fabric making and teaches the real value of the clothes we wear.

Give your child the chance to join Pelle on his wool adventure by pairing this book with a Knitting Fork and Chunky Wool. It's a great way to introduce craft and knitting to a young child.

This mini edition measures 127 x 172mm

Hardcover; 30 pages.

Elsa Beskow (1874-1953), born Elsa Maartman in Stockholm, was a pioneering author and illustrator of children’s books in Sweden. Her books were inspired by her own childhood experiences, as well as those of her six children. Central themes were the relationships between children and adults and children’s independent initiative. Her books are continually reprinted, and many have become classics.
